A Welcoming Congregation

Interweave Committee

Special Welcome to Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual or Transgendered Persons

Because we believe in the Unitarian Universalist principles of:

  • The inherent worth and dignity of every person
  • justice, equity, and compassion in human relations
  • acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations
  • the goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all, and
  • respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part

we invite you to consider why First Jefferson Unitarian Universalist Church of Fort Worth might be the spiritual and religious community for you.

The Interweave Committee at FJUUC is comprised of members of the congregation who are committed to providing a welcoming, supportive atmosphere for our G/L/B/T church members, friends, and visitors. We are also committed to actively working on social justice issues which impact the G/L/B/T Community.

Please contact our minister if you would like to find out more about our activities.

Why Be a Welcoming Congregation?

Official recognition as a Welcoming Congregation allows us to open our church as safe space for bisexual, gay, lesbian, and transgender persons; to take positions on oppression in our larger communities; and to accomplish outreach. Furthermore, confronting our prejudices in a non-judgmental, non-threatening group allows us to explore their origins and offers an opportunity to replace those prejudices with knowledge. Understanding our prejudices lead to individual spiritual growth and congregational unity.
