The Interweave Committee at FJUUC is comprised of members of the congregation who are committed to providing a welcoming, supportive atmosphere for our G/L/B/T church members, friends, and visitors. We are also committed to actively working on social justice issues which impact the G/L/B/T Community. Please contact our minister if you would like to find out more about our activities. If you would like more information on FJUUC in particular, or Unitarian Universalism in general, please visit the links below. Why Be a Welcoming Congregation?Official recognition as a Welcoming Congregation allows us to open our church as safe space for bisexual, gay, lesbian, and transgender persons; to take positions on oppression in our larger communities; and to accomplish outreach. Furthermore, confronting our prejudices in a non-judgmental, non-threatening group allows us to explore their origins and offers an opportunity to replace those prejudices with knowledge. Understanding our prejudices lead to individual spiritual growth and congregational unity. |
