Every Sunday:

Religious Education for Children and Youth / Child Care
Our church school seeks to support parents and children in their spiritual quest through our classes, carefully selected curricula, social and service activities, and most of all by providing an atmosphere of both tolerance and questioning.  Details

Adult Forum
The hour may include a group discussion on current events or a presentation about an interesting topic. Details

Worship Service
Our service is similar in its overall structure to most church services. We have a choir, an offertory, and a call to worship. The minister usually delivers a 20 minute sermon.  We sing hymns, share happy and sad events with one another, and announce upcoming events in the life of the congregation.  Details

Bible Workbench
This Bible Study seeks to break up traditional ways of relating to the Bible and to open up the imaginative, creative, and unexpected. As opposed to searching for absolute and immutable "truths" that we must obey, or at least "believe," rather we look for the questions that the stories, parables, sayings raise that were important in Biblical times and which can be as important for us today.

Choir
The First Jefferson choir has regular rehearsals on Wednesday evenings from August to May/June.  We invite the participation of regular and new members. Choir membership is a service to the church in helping provide musical leadership in our services. We help lead the hymns, provide choral responses, and sing an offertory anthem on most Sundays.  We normally do two choral concerts each year, one near Christmas, and one in the spring. We also provide music for special celebrations including weddings and memorial services. In addition, we believe we have a special fellowship, being one of the oldest covenant groups in the church. Come join us. Contact Roy Redman.  Details

Sunday Potluck / Picnic
After Sunday service.

Social Action Committee
As members and friends of the First Jefferson UU community, our active involvement in socially important issues becomes a direct expression of our Unitarian Universalist faith.  Each member and friend of First Jefferson is invited to join us, both in our monthly planning meetings, and in the activities we will undertake.

Covenant Groups
Covenant groups are small groups of FJUUC members, friends and newcomers that gather together with the goals of building friendships and nurturing spiritual health. Meetings include an opening ritual, personal check-in, and conversation about a topic chosen by the group. This is a great way to connect to the FJUUC community. There's always a place for one more, so come join us!

Book Discussion Group
Do you enjoy reading; fiction and non-fiction, classics and contemporary, a variety of topics and authors? Come to the monthly FJUU Book Discussion Group.  Come, and suggest some or your favorites or that book you have been meaning to read, but just haven't gotten around to. We would love to have new members join us.

CUUPS Ceremonies and Meetings
Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans.

Newcomer's Class
You are invited to take part in a class especially designed for newcomers to First Jefferson Church and to Unitarian Universalism. We call it a Newcomer's Class and it is designed to introduce visitors and new members to Unitarian Universalist and our church. We will introduce you to the history of First Jefferson, the history of Unitarian Universalism, and some of the leaders of the church. Church leaders will discuss church programs and events, and help you understand how you can become involved. After lunch we will invite you to become a member or a friend of the church. This will only be an invitation not an obligation or even an expectation. We want you to attend the class to learn more about us whether or not you are ready for membership. Members who have joined recently but haven't been through this class are also invited. We offer this class four times a year. Please help us plan for lunch and childcare by letting us know a few days in advance, if you''ll be attending the class.

All-Church Cleanup Day
Join the party! Once a month a number of dedicated church members, friends and newcomers pitch in and do what needs to be done to keep our church looking good. Please consider helping out on Saturday by lending a hand with this month's clean-up.

Volunteers Needed
If you are interested in volunteering your time to help First Jefferson, we have many opportunities for you.  Please contact the church administrator, who will be happy to suggest something that fits your preferences.
